Squash Tips

General:

  • Watch the ball (not opponent!)
  • Set your feet
  • Take your space and time

Movement:

  • Concentrate on quick first step off the T
  • Relax on T when on retrieving end
  • Watch ball before take off from T

Techincal:

  • Hit thru the ball for more power
  • Firm/cocked wrist for more control
  • Racquet back early for deception and power

Tactical:

  • Thinking on court is crucial
  • Keeping opponent moving constantly 
  • Learn to use your athletic & racquet skills equally  

General Practice:

  • Keep key focus point when practicing (movement, length, volley etc....)
  • Have practice plan before session

Racquet:

  • Head MicroGel Extreme -
             Nicely balanced in the head for Drop
             shot control and weight on length

Physical Training:

  • Be squash specific (ie. speed/power, intervals, etc) 
  • Focus on both work & recovery periods
  • Use heart monitor (when possible)

Match Prep:

  • Proper warm up - light jog, lunges, and stretching
  • Mental preparation: Visualize your game plan

Recovery:

  • Cool down (bike/treadmill)
  • Use foam rollers to loosen up
  • Stretch lots 

Usefull Drills:

  • Basic Length-Rotations
  • Boast - Lob - Volley Straight
  • Back court game w/t Volley drop option
  • Volley - Solo

Strings:

  • My String Of Choice: Perfect Power 17
  • Tension:  29 Pounds

Grips:

  • Grip of Choice: Ultra Tac
